Introduction of Zorrent 4 mg Injection
Zorrent 4 mg Injection belongs to a class of medicines called bisphosphonates. It's mainly used to treat symptoms of various bone diseases and conditions, such as hypercalcemia (high blood calcium) associated with cancer, multiple myeloma (plasma cell cancer), Paget's disease (a disorder in which bone tissue is replaced), osteoporosis (weakening of the bones). Zorrent 4 mg reduces the symptoms of cancer and bone disease by increasing the density of the bones, slowing down the breakdown of the bones and reducing the amount of calcium that is released from the bones into the bloodstream.
Zorrent 4 mg Injection may cause some adverse effects such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, constipation, bone pain, reaction at the injection site (redness, swelling, itching, pain), abdominal pain, heartburn, loss of appetite, weight loss, insomnia, watery eyes, redness, swelling and/or itching of the eyes, mouth sores, white patches in the mouth, numbness or tingling around the mouth, numbness or tingling in the fingers or toes, excessive worry, agitation, depression, white vaginal discharge, redness, swelling, itching or burning of the vagina, hair loss, signs of infection (fever, chills, sore throat, cough, tiredness), anaemia (low red blood cell count), flu-like symptoms (fever, chills, tiredness, flushing, feeling unwell). If you experience any of these side effects, tell your doctor.
Patients taking Zorrent Injection should be advised to drink at least two glasses of water or other fluids within hours of infusion. Some patients may be advised to take a multivitamin, a calcium supplement and a vitamin D supplement for the duration of the Zorrent 4 mg treatment. Taking Zorrent 4 mg Injection may cause bone pain days or months after the first infusion. Patients who experience bone pain while taking Zorrent 4 Injection should tell their doctor as soon as possible. The doctor may prescribe a pain reliever, such as paracetamol, to reduce the bone pain or stop the Zorrent 4.
The use of Zorrent 4 mg Injection is not recommended in patients with a known allergy to Zorrent 4 mg or any of its ingredients and in patients with severe renal failure or severe renal impairment. It is also not recommended for use in patients who are pregnant or who are breastfeeding. Zorrent 4 mg Injection may cause fetal harm if ingested by pregnant patients. It may pass into human milk and cause adverse reactions in nursing infants. Patients who are receiving Zorrent Injection should be advised to use birth control during therapy and for at least six months after the last dose of Zorrent 4 mg Injection. This medicine may also interact with other medicines, vitamins, herbal supplements, and non-prescription drugs. Before receiving Zorrent 4 mg Injection, patients should tell their doctor or pharmacist about all the medicines and supplements they are taking.

Uses of Zorrent 4 mg Injection
Hypercalcemia: Zorrent 4 mg Injection is used in the treatment of hypercalcaemia associated with cancer - a condition in which the level of calcium in the blood is abnormally high. Calcium is an important mineral that is necessary for many body functions, such as the maintenance of healthy bones and teeth, nerve and muscle function, and blood clotting. Symptoms may include tiredness, weakness, nausea, vomiting, constipation, increased thirst and urination, bone pain and confusion.
Paget's disease:Zorrent Injection is used to treat bone diseases such as Paget's disease and cancer cells that spread to the bone, causing bone cells (osteoclasts) to eat away parts of the affected bone. This can lead to weakening of the bones. This increases the risk of complications such as fractures, bone pain and hypercalcemia (high levels of calcium in the blood). Symptoms include bone pain, deformities, fractures, stiffness and hearing loss.
Multiple myeloma: Zorrent 4 mg is used to treat multiple myeloma, also known as myeloma, which is a cancer that affects the plasma cells found in the bone marrow. Plasma cells are white blood cells that produce antibodies that help the body fight infection. In multiple myeloma, abnormal plasma cells make abnormal antibodies. These can cause damage to the kidneys and other organs. Symptoms of multiple myeloma include bone pain, weakness, fatigue, frequent infections and anaemia.
Osteoporosis: Zorrent 4 is used in the treatment of osteoporosis, a condition characterized by loss of bone mass and deterioration of bone tissue, resulting in weak and brittle bones. Bones, particularly in the hip, spine and wrist, are more likely to break or fracture.
Benefits of Zorrent 4 mg Injection
This Zorrent 4 mg contains zoledronic acid. Zoledronic acid is used to treat postmenopausal osteoporosis, Paget's disease and hypercalcemia of malignancy (bone cancer in which there is an excess of calcium). This Zorrent Injection binds tightly to bone and prevents calcium removal by osteoclasts (a type of bone cell that destroys bone tissue). This prevents osteoclasts from breaking down the bone, strengthens the bone and minimises the risk of bone fractures. In addition, by preventing the reabsorption of calcium from the bones into the blood, Zorrent 4 mg Injection can reduce the level of calcium in the blood. This may help treat high blood calcium caused by cancer.
