Introduction of Jakavi 5mg Tablet

Jakavi 5 mg Tablet is a Janus kinase inhibitor. It is used for the treatment of intermediate or high-risk Myelofibrosis (an uncommon type of bone marrow cancer) and Polycythemia Vera (a blood disorder characterized by an overproduction of red blood cells). A blood cell count must be performed before initiating therapy withJakavi 5 Tablet. Jakavi 5 mg Tablet is not recommended for use in patients under 12 years of age safety and efficacy are not established.

Common side effects include bruising, dizziness, headache, urinary infections, weight gain and bloating. These side effects may be temporary and in most cases will go away on their own. However, if they continue or get worse, tell your doctor or health care professional. This medicine can decrease the number of blood cells in your blood (decrease in red blood cells), which can increase your susceptibility to infection. You will need regular blood checks to monitor your blood counts as well as your heart, liver, kidney, and lipid levels.

Jakavi 5 mg Tablet is not recommended for during pregnancy while planning to become pregnant, or while breastfeeding, as it may cause birth defects and abortion. Please consult your doctor before taking Jakavi 5 mg. Please make sure to inform your doctor, if you have any signs of infection or if you have any pre-existing disease such as kidney or liver disease or any other health problems before taking this medicine. Additionally, let your doctor know about any other medications you are taking, as they may interact with Jakavi 5 Tablet. Regular blood tests will be conducted to monitor the number of blood cells, sugar levels and cholesterol levels in your blood.

You can take Jakavi 5 mg Tablet with or without food or as directed by your doctor. Take it at the same time each day. Take this medication with the aid of using your mouth with a pitcher of water. Do not break, crush, chew or open the tablet. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and take your usual dose.


Uses of Jakavi 5mg Tablet

Polycythemia vera: Jakavi 5 mg Tablet is used to treat polycythemia vera, a rare blood disorder in which the body produces too many red blood cells. The excess red blood cells can cause the blood to become thick and sticky, making it more difficult to flow through the blood vessels. This can lead to several complications, including an increased risk of blood clots that can cause a heart attack or stroke.

Chronic idiopathic myelofibrosis: Jakavi 5 mg Tablet is used to treat chronic idiopathic myelofibrosis (also called primary myelofibrosis), a type of bone marrow disease in which the bone marrow is replaced by scar tissue, leading to a reduction in the production of blood cells. The scar tissue can also cause excess fluid to build up in the abdomen (ascites) and fat cells to build up in the liver and spleen.
