• Monthiba Tablet is used to prevent ‘skeletal events’ (fractures or bone complications requiring treatment) in patients with breast cancer and bone metastases (when cancer has spread to the bone). It is also used to treat osteoporosis (a disease that makes bones fragile) in women who have been through menopause and are at risk of developing bone fractures. Monthiba Tablet is reducing the risk of spine fractures has been shown in studies, but its effect on the risk of fractures of the neck of the femur (the top of the thighbone) has not been established.

  This medicine may cause some adverse effects such as nausea, stomach pain, diarrhoea, constipation, weakness, dizziness, headache, fever, sore throat, chills, cough, and other signs of infection, frequent or urgent need to urinate painful urination. These side effects stay in a very short time period and will disappear after a short time. If they do not go away, tell your doctor. Monthiba Tablet can cause serious kidney problems, especially if you are dehydrated if you take diuretic medicine (water pills), or if you already have kidney disease. It can also cause low levels of calcium in the blood and pain in the mouth or jaw. These are serious side effects and need urgent medical attention. Tell your doctor straight away.
