• Tentide EM Tablet is a combination of two antiretroviral medicines containing emtricitabine and tenofovir disoproxil fumarate. It is used in the treatment of adults and adolescents (aged 12 years and older with a body weight of at least 35 kg) infected with the Human Immunodeficiency Virus type 1. It also helps control HIV infection and prevent the development of acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS).
  
  Tentide EM does not completely cure HIV infection. It will reduce the progression of a chronic, potentially life-threatening condition known as acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) and other HIV-related conditions. This tablet will work by stopping the virus from multiplying in the body. ​

How to Use Tentide EM Tablet?

How Tentide EM Tablet Works?

• Tentide EM Tablet contains two active substances, emtricitabine and tenofovir disoproxil. Both of these active substances are antiretroviral medicines which are used to treat HIV infection. Emtricitabine is a nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor and tenofovir is a nucleotide reverse transcriptase inhibitor. However, both are generally known as NRTIs and they work by interfering with the normal working of an enzyme (reverse transcriptase) that is essential for the virus to reproduce itself.

Tentide EM Tablet should be modified in HIV-infected adult patients with creatinine clearance of 30–49 mL/min. Tentide EM should not be used in patients with creatinine clearance below 30 mL/min and in patients with end-stage renal disease requiring dialysis.

Breastfeeding

Tentide EM Tablet may pass into human milk. There is insufficient information on the effects of Tentide EM Tablet in newborns/infants. The use of Tentide EM should not be used during breastfeeding.

Pregnancy

Tentide EM Tablet may be considered safe to use in pregnant women. There are no malformations or foetal/neonatal toxicity associated with Tentide EM. Therefore the use of Tentide EM Tablet may be considered during pregnancy, if necessary.

Driving
